Much deserved success for this Singer Song writer Shaffer Chimere Smith, better known as NE-YO. Success did not come easy for this talented artist as his path took him through the field on snakes and flash bling con men in high priced couture looking to milk a great hit maker. Through it all he came out the other side with his values intact and found Def Jam Record chairman LA Reid whom saw NE-YO as a genuine singer songwriter and performance artist. In this episode Nui Te Koha speaks to NE-YO back stage in Minneapolis USA after his concert performance. He speaks candidly about his career and how he wants to help produce a hit for once crown diva Whitney Houston. Why not? He has a hit ratio is 3 out of 5 and his list of song writing credits this year is impressive featuring the likes of Mario, “You should let me love you”, Chris Brown “So Glad” and “Unfaithful” for Rihanna all major worldwide hits. It’s no wonder major music labels and artist want to work with him. NE-YO is currently in Australia performing on the Jay Z Tour with Rihanna this month. Listen up for more…..

This Week we speak to Rihanna, a relative newcomer to the R and B scene. She was discovered by lengendary producers Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken on sunny Accra beach in the Caribbean. She was introduced to Jay Z whom discovered this treasure from the Carribean could not only sing but had the potential to be a successful recording artist. Hip Hop performer and Def Jam CEO days, Jay Z called Rihanna into his office and listened to her audition. He loved it so much that he would not let her leave the office until there were lawyers in there writing up contracts so he could sign her up on the spot. So terrified was Jay Z that Rihanna would go down the street and sign up with another record company that he insisted and locked the doors and brought up the lawyers and so begun the legend of Rihana. She had several hits including “Pon De Replay” which almost beat Miriah Carey’s single “We belong together” as the biggest selling single last year. She had to do with runner up, not bad for a newcomer whom is still doing well on the music charts today. Listen up for more………

Welcome to the first installment of this weekly show on the Podcast Network. Hi I’m Nui TeKoha I’m the senior writer for the Herald Sun, which is the largest selling newspaper in Australia. The point of difference with this show is I suppose the fact that as a news paper journalist we’re going to ask the kind of questions that aren’t so radio slick infact it’s going to get quite shambolick at times. This is not meant to be a slick little show. It’s real questions, nice and open- ended trying to get some elaborated answers from some of the people we speak to. First up this week 50 cent also known as Curtis Jackson. So-called Gangster rapper former drug dealer now turned Rap Superstar and as with all rappers these days he’s an entrepreneur. This interview was conducted during his Australian tour……… Listen up for more.
